Spontaneous Effort

Utilizing the toy FedEx truck, I successfully created a visually interesting and compelling publication with the text provided. My goal was to take this small and ordinary toy truck and create images from them that would make the reader essentially have “double vision.” Using the photographs I shot, I edited the images to multiply the singular truck and overlaid colors to create an obscure and vibrating image. This effect abstracted the truck and gave it a new energy. It was no longer just a toy FedEx vehicle, but a new object that makes the viewer do a double take as if it was something else other than a simple toy. I allowed for large uneven margins to strengthen the images on each page, allowing for a few full bleeds to continue for the viewer to consider what they were looking at. Some images were photographed with my hand holding the truck for balance. I edited my support out to create these impossible poses for the toy truck to further obscure the photograph and push the double vision idea. Printing on Mohawk 70lb. Options Light Blue worked well with my cool tone color scheme for the publication. These colors worked well to add to the hazy and obscure nature of the photographs with bright pops of yellow and uneasily calm purples and blues. The body copy is set in Univers 55 Roman and the title page and cover are in Cubano.
